Pharmacological treatments for generalised anxiety disorder: A systematic review and network meta-analysis
The Lancet Feb 27, 2019
Slee A, et al. – In this largest contemporary review network analysis, researchers compared information on the multiple available drug choices for generalized anxiety disorder treatment. Due to the cost and resource constraints of psychological alternatives, pharmacological treatment is often the first choice for clinicians. Eligible studies were published between January 1, 1994 and August 1, 2017; a total of 1,992 potential studies were screened for inclusion. Overall, there were several effective treatment choices for generalized anxiety disorder across classes of medication. The failure of initial pharmacological therapy might not be a reason to forego a pharmacological treatment strategy, according to the authors.
