Journal of Cardiac Surgery Aug 25, 2017

Thongprayoon C, et al. – This study investigated the association, risk factors, and outcomes related to persistent acute kidney injury (pAKI) following transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). Findings demonstrated a marked association between pAKI and higher mortality risk post–TAVR. The identified risk factors for post–procedural pAKI were: baseline estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), diabetes mellitus, previous percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), and blood transfusion.
