Peripheral nervous system involvement in systemic lupus erythematosus: A retrospective study on prevalence, associated factors, and outcome
Lupus Apr 03, 2019
Bortoluzzi A, et al. - To evaluate the prevalence and clinical characteristics of peripheral nervous system involvement in systemic lupus erythematosus cases, authors quantified 1224 candidates. They reported 68% of peripheral nervous system events attributable to systemic lupus erythematosus and 6.9% of the overall prevalence of peripheral nervous system involvement. They found peripheral nervous system manifestations like polyneuropathy, cranial neuropathy, single or multiple mononeuritis as the possible complication of systemic lupus erythematosus. They recorded a significantly higher average age of systemic lupus erythematosus onset in subjects with peripheral nervous system events vs controls.
