Peripheral nerve block as a supplement to light or deep general anesthesia in elderly patients receiving total hip arthroplasty: A prospective randomized study
The Clinical Journal of Pain Nov 15, 2017
Mei B, et al. - In this work, researchers sought to investigate the influence of peripheral nerve blockade and different intraoperative sedation levels on the short-term recovery of elderly patients receiving total hip arthroplasty. With lumbosacral plexus block, they observed a reduction in the need for opioids and satisfactory postoperative analgesia. In combination with intraoperative light sedation (high bispectral index), it resulted in better postoperative outcomes.
