Lai KSP, et al. – This systematic review aimed to quantitatively summarize the data on peripheral inflammatory markers in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) compared with healthy controls (HC). This meta–analysis proposed that AD was accompanied by a peripheral inflammatory response and that IL–6 could be a useful biological marker to correspond with the severity of cognitive impairment. To determine the clinical utility of these markers, further studies were needed.
