Peripheral blood monocytes reveal an activated phenotype in pediatric uveitis

Walscheid K, et al. - This study assessed peripheral blood monocytes from children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIAU) who developed uveitis. Findings demonstrated that monocytes from these children versus healthy children showed a distinct phenotype. In addition, phenotypic changes appeared to be independent of both arthritis or uveitis and possibly be modified by treatment.
