Perioperative stroke and mortality after surgical aortic valve replacement: A meta-analysis

Thiagarajan K, et al. - The researchers conducted the meta-analysis of relevant studies to determine whether the perioperative stroke was a risk factor for operative mortality after surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR). Following SAVR, patients with perioperative strokes had almost 5 times greater odds of experiencing operative mortality compared with those without. Perioperative strokes were, therefore, correlated with increased risk of early mortality. Further examination was required of preventive strategies.
