Perioperative analgesia for patients undergoing otologic surgery: An evidence-based review
The Laryngoscope Apr 04, 2019
Campbell HT, et al. - Data were researched to investigate the effectiveness of perioperative analgesic treatment of candidates who underwent otologic surgery. When the treatment group included more than one analgesic, researchers reported an overall decrease in pain scores. They noted nausea and vomiting as the most common adverse events across all medication types. They also found the prevalence of these side effects among local anesthetic cases. They suggested combination analgesics like acetaminophen plus codeine vs monotherapy analgesics as it provided excellent pain relief in the perioperative pain management of otologic surgeries.
