Perioperative adverse events in women undergoing concurrent urogynecologic and gynecologic oncology surgeries for suspected malignancy
International Urogynecology Journal Oct 05, 2018
Davidson ERW, et al. - Researchers evaluated the incidence of adverse events after concurrent urogynecologic and gynecologic oncology surgery vs gynecologic oncology surgery alone. In addition, they characterized the occurrence of modification in planned urogynecologic procedures. In this retrospective matched cohort study of women who underwent concurrent surgery at a large tertiary care center between January 2004 and June 2017, an increased incidence of minor, but not serious perioperative adverse events, was noted in correlation with concurrent surgeries. During combined surgeries, 10% of planned urogynecologic procedures are either modified or abandoned.
