Journal of Clinical Periodontology Jul 27, 2019
Costa FO, et al. - In this investigation involving 294 people (98 cases with liver cirrhosis and 196 controls), researchers explored the connection between liver cirrhosis and periodontitis. For this case-control study, a full-mouth periodontal examination was conducted and plaque index, probing depth, clinical attachment level and bleeding on probing were recorded. According to findings, cirrhosis individuals had a chance of ~2 higher periodontitis than controls. A significant risk association was noted between cirrhosis of the liver and periodontitis. Furthermore, the intensive use of alcohol increased the risk of periodontitis significantly.
