Journal of Periodontology Feb 22, 2019
Mendes VS, et al. - In this case-control study, researchers estimated 756 participants (397 with psoriasis and 359 controls) to analyze the possible relationship between psoriasis and periodontitis along with the influence of risk factors in this association. They noted a high prevalence of periodontitis among cases vs controls (46.1% vs 33.1%). They found an increment in the prevalence of periodontitis as per the severity of psoriasis ie, mild form (44.4%), moderate (46.3%) and advanced (47.1%). The number of teeth, smoking, and body mass index were noticed in a significant association with the occurrence of periodontitis.
