Periodontal disease and susceptibility to breast cancer: A meta-analysis of observational studies

Shi T, et al. - Considering some individual studies suggest an association between periodontal disease and breast cancer, researchers performed a meta-analysis collating the existing evidence supporting the hypothesis that periodontal disease leads to a higher risk of developing breast cancer. They identified eight studies, with 168,111 individuals, which suggested a modest positive correlation between periodontal disease and breast cancer. Thereby highlighting the great public health significance of implementing practical measures to prevent and treat periodontal disease.
