Perinatal outcomes and long-term offspring cardiovascular morbidity of women with congenital heart disease
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology Feb 03, 2020
Chilikov A, et al. - Perinatal outcomes of women with congenital heart disease were examined and long-term cardiovascular morbidity of offspring to these mothers was determined via performing a population-based cohort analysis including all singleton deliveries befalling between years 1991-2014 at Soroka University Medical Center. Researchers identified 243,313 deliveries that met the inclusion criteria; of these, 369 were of mothers with congenital heart disease. The risk for an adverse short-term perinatal outcome, such as low birth weight and cesarean delivery, was noted to be higher in pregnancies of women with congenital heart disease. Offspring of women with congenital heart disease exhibited no increased risk of long-term cardiovascular morbidity.
