Periarticular multimodal drug injection is better than single anesthetic drug in controlling pain after total knee arthroplasty
European Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery & Traumatology Jan 06, 2018
Tammachote N, et al. - This study assessed the analgesic efficacy of multimodal drug injection vs single anesthetic drug injection in patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Findings demonstrated that multimodal drug injection vs single anesthetic drug afforded attenuations in the pain level and morphine consumption in the early postoperative period and prolonged the analgesic effect. Only for cases at high risk of opioid or NSAIDs side effect, use of single anesthetic agent may be considered.
