Anaesthesia Dec 21, 2017
Polderman JAW, et al. - This study entails an assessment of 3 peri-operative treatment strategies to lower glucose and attenuate the requirement for rescue insulin in patients aged 18–75 years with type-2 diabetes mellitus undergoing non-cardiac surgery. Researchers found that implementation of a strategy involving pre-operative administration of liraglutide resulted in stabilization of peri-operative plasma glucose levels and attenuation of the need for peri-operative insulin, at the expense of increased pre-operative nausea rates.
