Performance validation of the Mayo triage algorithm applied to individualize surgical management of advanced epithelial ovarian cancer

Gynecologic Oncology Jun 21, 2021

Jiang C, et al. - Researchers aimed at externally validating the performance of the Mayo triage algorithm applied to treatment strategy management in advanced epithelial ovarian cancer (AEOC) patients. Based on the Mayo triage algorithm, 179 AEOC patients who underwent primary debulking surgery (PDS) were divided into two groups: the high-risk group comprising 32 patients and the triage-appropriate group comprising 147 patients. Among patients in the high-risk group, they noted higher susceptibility to severe surgical complications and lower rates of R0 and chemotherapy after PDS. This work confirms the validity of Mayo triage algorithm for treatment decision-making.
