Performance of the modified TRISS for evaluating trauma care in subpopulations: A cohort study
Injury Apr 18, 2018
de Munter L, et al. - Researchers sought to determine the prognostic ability of the modified Trauma and Injury Severity Score (modified TRISS) for evaluating trauma care in subpopulations and to assess where this model needs improvement for better survival predictions. Observations suggested that calibration of the modified TRISS was adequate for the total cohort, with an overestimation for elderly patients and an underestimation for patients without brain injury. Hence they recommended interpreting with care the outcome comparison conducted with TRISS-based predictions. A simple prediction model is required to be developed that would have accurate survival prediction in the aging overall trauma population (preferable with patients with hip fracture), with readily available predictors.
