Performance of diffusion-weighted MRI post-CT urography for the diagnosis of upper tract urothelial carcinoma: Comparison with selective urine cytology sampling
Clinical Imaging Aug 22, 2018
Akita H, et al. - In this investigation, researchers assessed the usefulness of adding diffusion-weighted MRI (DW-MRI) to CT urography (CTU) for diagnosing upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) via retrospectively evaluating 102 high-risk patients with UTUC who had both CTU and DW-MRI. As per data, DW-MRI could not detect any small papillary urothelial carcinoma detected using CTU. The findings from the present study suggested that the addition of DW-MRI would be beneficial for both mass-forming and wall-thickening lesions. They found that the sensitivity of DW-MRI was greater than that of selective urine cytology sampling.
