Performance evaluation of medical service for breast cancer patients based on diagnosis related groups

Liu X, Liu F, Wang L, et al. - Researchers used diagnosis related groups (DRGs) indicators to examine the performance of medical service for breast cancer patients in Henan Province, China. They intended to offer data to inform practices and policies for the prophylaxis as well as control of breast cancer. They acquired data from the front pages of medical records of all hospitals above class II that admitted patients with breast cancer in Henan Province between 2016 and 2019. China DRGs was employed as a risk adjustment instrument. An improvement in the performance of medical service for breast cancer patients discharged from study hospitals in Henan Province, was evident between 2016 and 2019. The primary area of improvement was in the range of available services, however, it is still necessary that medical institutions keep on putting efforts to enhance the efficiency of medical services as well as to ensure medical safety. DRGs was found as an effective assessment instrument.
