Performance characteristics of transrectal shear wave elastography (SWE) imaging in the evaluation of clinically localised prostate cancer: A prospective study
The Journal of Urology Apr 04, 2018
Wei C, et al. - The diagnostic accuracy of shear wave elastography (SWE) for the detection and phenotypic characterization of prostate cancer (PCa), relative to whole-mount radical prostatectomy histopathology, was assessed. Results suggested that cancer foci were accurately detected via quantitative transrectal SWE and this technique showed significant differences between cancerous and benign tissue. Furthermore, to reliably phenotype PCa aggressiveness, this technique could be used. Compared with benign areas, quantitative stiffness data estimated in kilopascals (kPa) was significantly higher in malignant.
