Percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic discectomy (PTED) for the treatment of LDH in obese patients: HRQoL assessment in 2 years follow-up
World Neurosurgery Mar 07, 2018
Kapetanakis S, et al. - This prospectively designed study was performed to determine the impact of PTED on postoperative parameters of HRQoL (Health-Related Quality of Life) in obese patients with Lumbar Disc Herniation (LDH) within a 2-year follow-up. For the treatment of these patients, PTED seemed to constitute a generally safe and effective method. However, major technical challenges which lead to higher frequency of complications, as well as the lesser acquired clinical benefit in obese may contribute to further consideration for conduction of PTED in specific cases of obese patients, especially on ground of low surgical experience.
