Percutaneous coronary intervention vs coronary artery bypass grafting in patients with reduced ejection fraction
The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Oct 15, 2020
Bianco V, Kilic A, Mulukutla S, et al. - Researchers investigated patients with reduced ejection fraction in order to assess comparative results for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) vs coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in this patient population. Participants were selected from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center from 2011 to 2018. CABG and PCI cohorts having a mean ejection fraction of 35% ± 9.53% were included. Propensity matching was applied. Findings revealed significantly improved survival, lower major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events, and fewer repeat revascularization procedures in patients who received CABG vs those treated with PCI.
