Percutaneous coronary intervention vs coronary arterial bypass grafting in patients with multi-vessel coronary revascularization (from the CREDO-Kyoto PCI/CABG registry/cohort-2)
Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions Aug 12, 2019
Watanabe H, Shiomi H, Morimoto T, et al. - Using the CREDO-Kyoto PCI/CABG registry/cohort-2, researchers examined patients with triple-vessel disease for long-term results following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with drug-eluting stent only vs coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Overall 2,193 patients who underwent elective multi-vessel coronary revascularization including left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) were analyzed. Of these, 945 underwent PCI with sirolimus-eluting stent (SES) only and 1,248 underwent CABG. A comparable 5-year risk for death/myocardial infarction/stroke as well as for mortality, but a markedly higher risk for any coronary revascularization, was observed in correlation with PCI using SES vs CABG in patients who underwent coronary revascularization for multiple vessels including LAD.
