Pentoxifylline inhibits lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammatory mediators in human second trimester placenta explants
Placenta Aug 18, 2017
Speer EM, et al. – In this study, researchers hypothesized that pentoxifylline will reduce lipopolysaccharide (LPS)–induced pro–inflammatory cytokines production in human placental explants. This study recommends that PTX attenuates the LPS–induced pro–inflammatory milieu in human placental explants. They speculate that PTX may have utility as a candidate anti–inflammatory agent for the prophylaxis and/or treatment of human placental inflammation.
