PCNA-associated factor P15PAF, targeted by FOXM1, predicts poor prognosis in high-grade serous ovarian cancer patients
International Journal of Cancer Nov 22, 2018
Jin C, et al. - Researchers focused on the mechanisms of poor prognosis of ovarian cancer. They observed a remarkable upregulation of P15PAF (KIAA0101) in high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC). They also noted poor prognosis in relation to high KIAA0101 expression. Proliferation and metastasis of ovarian cancer cells were driven by transcriptional activation of KIAA0101 by FOXM1. The mechanism considered to be responsible for cisplatin resistance involved the inhibition of cisplatin-induced apoptosis and autophagy in ovarian cancer cells by KIAA0101 through PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway activation. Therefore, an intimate association of KIAA0101 with FOXM1 and PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathways was shown.
