Annals of Surgical Oncology Aug 09, 2017
Ikoma N, et al. – This study attempted to assess the sites of recurrence and identify predicting factors for recurrence and survival in patients who underwent gastrectomy for adenocarcinoma at an institution where preoperative therapy is commonly applied for advanced gastric cancer. After curative resection of gastric cancer, they noted that the peritoneum was a common site of recurrence and was correlated with poor survival. In addition, prophylactic treatment targeting the peritoneal cavity might enhance survival of advanced gastric cancer.
