Patterns of allergic sensitization and atopic dermatitis from 1 to 3 years: Effects on allergic diseases
Clinical & Experimental Allergy Nov 22, 2017
Dharma C, et al. - This study was undertaken to determine the patterns of allergic sensitization and atopic dermatitis (AD) from early infancy to age 3, and the differential risk for developing allergic diseases within each pattern in a general cohort. Among allergen-sensitized children, a substantial heterogeneity was noted. Regarding the non-specificity associated with labelling children simply as Âatopic and Ânon-atopic without considering the timing of their atopic history, type of sensitization, and AD status, awareness on researchers' as well as clinicians' end is required. Risk of developing other allergic diseases appeared to be greatest among children with AD who were poly-sensitized to foods at an early age.
