Patterns and impact of dual antiplatelet cessation on cardiovascular risk after percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with acute coronary syndromes
American Journal of Cardiology Dec 09, 2018
Schoos M, et al. - Researchers utilized the PARIS (Patterns of Non-Adherence to Anti-Platelet Regimens in Stented Patients) registry, which was a multicenter study of 5,018 patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), to analyze the patterns and clinical influence of differing modes of dual-antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) cessation post-PCI among patients presenting with and without acute coronary syndromes (ACS). They observed that, the presentation with or without ACS had a differential impact on the incidence of DAPT cessation mode. They also noted that the most common mode of DAPT cessation that also appeared to be safe across both groups was physician guided DAPT discontinuation. In association with the interruption of DAPT in ACS patients, higher rates of adverse events were reported.
