Patients with symptoms and characteristics consistent with obstructive sleep apnea are at a higher risk for acute and subacute stent thrombosis after percutaneous coronary stent implantation: a single-center caseâcontrol study
BMC Cardiovascular Disorders Aug 26, 2017
Li Y et al. – This case–controlled study involving 23 patients investigated obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) as a risk factor for early stent thrombosis (EST; within 30 days) following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The authors concluded that OSA is an independent risk factor for EST, and this was further substantiated by the observation that contribution of OSA to EST was more obvious in patients with few conventional cardiovascular risk factors.
