Researchers found that despite substantial comorbidities, these patients tolerated anesthetic management without major complications. In addition, acidosis could be anticipated during major surgical procedures in several patients who experienced self-limited metabolic acidosis. It is prudent to closely monitor and manage blood glucose levels of patients with glycogen storage disease type I.
