Gurrieri C, et al. - This study offers information regarding the perioperative course of a cohort of patients with glycogen storage diseases. Researchers found that despite substantial comorbidities, these patients tolerated anesthetic management without major complications. In addition, acidosis could be anticipated during major surgical procedures in several patients who experienced self-limited metabolic acidosis. It is prudent to closely monitor and manage blood glucose levels of patients with glycogen storage disease type I.
