Etzkorn JR, et al. - For the surgical treatment of facial melanoma, the researchers assessed the patient preferences. They also ascertained how patients value the relative importance of different surgical attributes. The surgical treatment options that minimized the risk for local recurrence were preferred by the patients. Patient preferences were less influenced by the logistics of travel and treatment. In order to maximize local cure and convenience of care, most subjects chose Mohs micrographic surgery with immunostains.
