Patient quality of life fluctuates before and after Mohs micrographic surgery: A longitudinal assessment of the patient experience
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology Mar 09, 2018
Zhang J, et al. - Experts conducted this observational study to measure the quality of life (QOL) in skin cancer patients before and after Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS). They also sought to identify the risk factors related to impaired QOL. Results demonstrated persistent concerns of skin cancer patients about social interactions and physical appearance 1-2 weeks after MMS, but by 3 months after surgery, all aspects of QOL improved. Increased risk for longitudinally impaired QOL was noted in patients who were less than 65 years old, female, or smoked.
