Hanson AL, et al. - This study was designed to evaluate how patients might choose between surgical and nonsurgical therapy for acute uncomplicated appendicitis and to identify targets to make antibiotic treatment more appealing. Most patients might choose surgical intervention over antibiotics alone, however, a meaningful number could choose nonoperative management. Therefore, researchers suggested discussing all viable treatment options, including antibiotics alone, with patients.
