Patient, health service factors and variation in mortality following resuscitated out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in acute coronary syndrome: Analysis of the Myocardial Ischaemia National Audit Project
Resuscitation Jan 17, 2018
Couper K, et al. - Among resuscitated cases of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) with acute coronary syndrome (ACS), researchers searched for patient and health service factors associated with variation in hospital mortality. Observations revealed a wide variation in inter-hospital mortality that was only partially explained by patient and health service factors. They observed no association of hospital OHCA volume and primary percutaneous coronary intervention capability with lower mortality. In ST-Elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients, lower mortality was evident in association with early reperfusion therapy.
