Pathologic significance of a novel oncoprotein in thyroid cancer progression
Head & Neck Oct 14, 2017
Firek AA, et al. - This trial intended to scrutinize the expression of the known osteogenic protein, Enigma, in thyroid cancer as a candidate oncoprotein and role in carcinogenesis, on the basis of the correlation with other known oncoproteins, for instance, bone morphogenetic protein-1 (BMP-1). The outcome displayed that Enigma possibly served as an oncoprotein marker. It aided in detecting the benign from malignant thyroid tissue, via fine needle aspiration (FNA). The involvement of Enigma could be found in the carcinogenesis of thyroid cancer independent of tissue calcification. It appeared to be related to the interaction with BMP-1.
