Pathologic and clinical characteristics of early onset renal cell carcinoma

Clemmensen T, et al. - The authors appraised the clinicopathologic features of early-onset renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and determined the role of immunohistochemistry (IHC) in potentially determining the diagnoses of newly recognized RCC subtypes that were likely misclassified. The findings revealed that early-onset RCCs exhibit a greater tendency of occurrence in non-Caucasians, being a lower stage and undergoing partial nephrectomy. It was noted that few unclassified and papillary tumors were reclassified with IHC.
