Pathoanatomy of Maisonneuve fracture based on radiologic and CT examination
Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery Dec 19, 2018
Bartoníček J, et al. - Authors sought to describe Maisonneuve fracture (MF) pathoanatomy on the basis of radiographs, Computed tomography (CT) scans and intraoperative findings. The study included a total of 54 adult patients. A variable injury always related to rupture of the anterior and interosseous tibiofibular ligaments was MF. Findings suggested wide employement of CT examination in MF, and MRI should be considered under special circumstances. In 43 of 54 patients (80%), they identified fractures of the posterior malleolus. They recorted injury to the deltoid ligament in 27 cases (50%), a fracture of the medial malleolus in 20 cases (37%) and medial structures were intact in 7 cases (13%).
