Abo-salem E, et al. - This study was performed to compare the effectiveness of patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure vs medical therapy in cases with cryptogenic stroke. Among cases with PFO and cryptogenic stroke, PFO closure resulted in a significant reduction in the recurrence of ischemic stroke compared to medical therapy alone, primarily antiplatelet.
