Parity as a prognostic factor in patients with advanced-stage epithelial ovarian cancer
Cancer Management and Research Mar 03, 2020
Khalafi-Nezhad A, Ebrahimi V, Ahmadpour F, et al. - Among Iranian women suffering from epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC), researchers investigated the prognostic factors impacting the overall survival (OS). They retrospectively reviewed as well as examined data from newly diagnosed patients with established EOC at Motahari Clinic, Shiraz, Iran, from January 1, 2001, to December 31, 2016. Among overall patients, a diagnosis of early-stage EOC (ESEOC) and advanced-stage EOC (ASEOC) was received by 34.3% and 65.7%, respectively. The median (95% CI) OS was estimated to be 35 (28− 41) months. In patients with ESEOC, a shorter OS in correlation with a higher tumor stage was reported. In those with ASEOC, the age at diagnosis harmed the OS. A lower OS in relation to age ≥ 65 years at diagnosis was observed in ASEOC patients. Improved OS was experienced by ASEOC patients in correlation with more than one parity.
