Parent reported long-term quality of life outcomes in children after congenital diaphragmatic hernia repair
Journal of Pediatric Surgery Jul 05, 2018
Morsberger JL, et al. - Researchers ascertained the long-term outcomes for congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) patients including quality of life (QoL), symptom burden, reoperation rates, and health status. Reassuring QoL scores were seen in children with CDH. When comparing defect side, patch vs primary repair, prenatal diagnosis, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, or recurrence, no difference was seen in quality of life (QoL). Results demonstrated a weekly association of older age with worse school functioning and heartburn.
