Parenchymal-sparing vs extended hepatectomy for colorectal liver metastases: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Cancer Medicine Sep 05, 2019
Deng G, Li H, Jia GQ, et al. - Researchers examined whether treating colorectal liver metastases (CLM) with parenchymal-sparing hepatectomy (PSH) is safe and efficacious. Performing a comprehensive medical literature search, they analyzed a total of 18 eligible studies comprising 7081 CLM patients. They observed a correlation of PSH with better perioperative outcomes; this was observed without compromising oncological outcomes. As per findings, hepatic parenchyma had increasing incidence and the PSH treatment confer a greater opportunity of repeat resection for intrahepatic recurrent tumors. They recommend considering this approach as an effective surgical approach for CLM.
