Paratesticular alveolar rhabdomyosarcomas do not harbor typical translocations: A distinct entity with favorable prognosis?

Virchows Archiv Mar 09, 2018

Dantonello TM, et al. - The effect of subtype in paratesticular rhabdomyosarcoma (PT-RMS) was determined. All rhabdomyosarcomas (RMAs) in the current morphologic classifications qualified for the alveolar subtype if typical features of RMA were realized, at least focally. The findings did not reveal the presence of RMAs consisting of pure RMA morphology in patients with PT-RMS. Furthermore, mixed RMA/embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma (RME) did not exhibit a translocation typical for RMA and was associated with a good prognosis.
