Paraganglioma of the head and neck region, treated with radiation therapy, a Rare Cancer Network study
Head & Neck May 30, 2019
Lassen-Ramshad Y, et al. - From 13 institutions of the Rare Cancer Network, researchers analyzed a total of 81 patients with 82 paraganglioma of the head and neck (HNPGL) to present an analysis on outcome and toxicity after radiation therapy (RT). The patients were followed-up for a median duration of 48 months (1-456). Conventional RT was administered for treating 62 lesions and stereotactic RT was administered for treating 20 lesions. RT for HNPGL led to good local control with acceptable toxicity among these cases. As per outcomes, better results might be achieved with stereotactic RT. Findings suggest the possible necessity for long-term follow-up.
