Pain management after total hip arthroplasty at five different Danish hospitals: A prospective, observational cohort study of 501 patients
Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica Jul 10, 2019
Geisler A, et al. - Researchers conducted this prospective observational study of 501 total hip arthroplasty patients at five different hospitals in the Capital Region and at the Region Zealand in Denmark in order to determine their postoperative pain treatment, including outcomes. The included hospitals showed a large variation in analgesic treatments and the hospitals did not use the same non-opioid basic analgesic regimen. However, no substantial differences in pain levels were observed and the pain levels were generally low at rest and moderate during mobilization. Consistent analgesic superiority was not evident for any of the non-opioid analgesic treatment.
