Pain management after total hip arthroplasty at five different Danish hospitals: A prospective, observational cohort study of 501 patients
Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica Mar 22, 2019
Geisler A, et al. - In a large cohort of patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA) at five different Danish hospitals, researchers explored and documented post-operative pain treatment, including outcomes. In this prospective, multicentre, observational cohort study involving 501 THA patients, there were different routines for analgesic treatment between hospitals. However, pain levels did not differ substantially and during mobilization were generally low in rest and moderate. No treatment with non-opioid analgesics has shown consistent analgesic superiority.
