Pain in children with cancer: Prevalence, characteristics, and parent management
The Clinical Journal of Pain Feb 14, 2018
Tutelman PR, et al. - The current study was performed to determine pain prevalence and characteristics, and the pharmacological, physical, and psychological pain management strategies used by parents to manage their child’s cancer pain. Researchers observed that clinically significant levels of pain were experienced by children with cancer who were on active treatment and who were posttreatment. To manage the child’s pain, parents reported using more physical and psychological strategies than pharmacological strategies. They recognized that despite using pain management strategies, management of cancer-related pain continued to be a problem for children during treatment and into survivorship.
