Pain and analgesic drugs in chronic venous ulcers with topical sevoflurane use

Journal of Vascular Surgery Mar 04, 2018

Imbernon-Moya A, et al. - In this study, researchers report on the efficacy and safety of topical sevoflurane for treatment of pain in chronic venous ulcers (CVUs). Outcomes reveal that topical sevoflurane has an intense, fast, and long-lasting local analgesic effect with an adequate safety profile. Requirement for other conventional analgesic drugs is also diminished with its use. Findings thereby suggest that for refractory painful CVUs, topical sevoflurane is an efficient and safe therapeutic alternative.
