Overall treatment satisfaction 5 years after bariatric surgery
Obesity Surgery Aug 21, 2019
Hegland PA, et al. - Researchers surveyed patients—108 patients who underwent duodenal switch and 153 patients who underwent laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy—5 years postbariatric surgery in order to examine their overall satisfaction with the treatment and its association with BMI and health-related quality of life (HRQOL). Five years after surgery, 82.4% of the patients were very satisfied or satisfied, whereas uncertainty or dissatisfaction was reported in 17.6% of the patients. They identified less satisfaction with overall treatment outcomes 5 years after bariatric surgery in association with reduced mental HRQOL and obesity-related HRQOL, and higher BMI.
