JAMA Dermatology May 28, 2018
Garg A, et al. - Authors evaluated the prevalence of Crohn disease (CD) among patients with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) in the United States and to determine the strength of the relationship between the 2 conditions. They conducted a cross-sectional analysis of data from 51,340 patients with HS identified using electronic health records data in the Explorys multiple health system data analytics and research platform, which included data from more than 50 million unique patients across all US census regions. The risk for CD was seen in the patients with HS. Experts noted the strongest association in the men, patients aged 45 to 64 years, nonobese patients, whites, and nonsmokers.
