Ovarian function after ovarian transposition and additional pelvic radiotherapy: A systematic review
European Journal of Surgical Oncology Mar 09, 2019
Hoekman EJ, et al. - Researchers performed this systematic review to examine ovarian survival (OS) after ovarian transposition (OT) and pelvic radiation. They analyzed 38 eligible studies with a total of 765 patients and realized OS after OT and external beam radiation therapy (EBRT, to the pelvic) ranging from 20% to 100%. Following OT and brachytherapy, they noted higher OS (OS 63.6–100%) compared to that observed after OT and EBRT (20–100%) and OT concomitant chemoradiotherapy (0–69.2%). They identified only 22 studies (with 112 patients) that reported on complications: the complication-rate was 0%–28.6% among these studies.
